Unusual Architecture in Tokyo - Reversible Destiny Lofts Mitaka
By Muza-chan on Jul 31, 2009 | In Japan travel | 15 feedbacks »
Today I discovered in Tokyo a strange yet beautiful building complex, Reversible Destiny Lofts.

This unusual architectural concept, created by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins, is accompanied by a very interesting theory, saying that people, at home, shouldn’t relax, they should be in an environment that stimulates the senses and invigorates their lives!
Here are some photos:

The theory stresses that particularly older people, shouldn’t sit back, which makes them decline. They should live in an environment that can boost immunity and increase longevity… like these buildings.

Huhmmmmm.....
@alexandra: Yes, I'm sure it's funny to live there. That's what the architects wanted, anyway!
@Eryl Shields: Me too! However, it's an intriguing theory... :-k
@virgo27: I agree, one of the most creative architectures I've seen.
@adrian: Well, it's not about Japan, it's just the theory of the architects (and one of them is american)
@Michael Flux: Me too, I would love to experience at least a week in an environment like this!
@Aysegul: Thank you and welcome!
@dr george pradhan: Thank you, I'm honored!
I'm the reserved type but I wonder, if I was there, if I'd work up enough courage to ask if I can go in and see how it looks from the inside looking out.
I work at a publishing house in Stuttgart, Germany, and we are very interested in using a couple of your fotos of the lofts in a new book for learning Italian. It is supposed to illustrate modern architecture.
I therefore ask you kindly to grant us the right to publish one or two of your fotos (foto number 2 and number 3 on this site) and to send us the foto in question in high resolution.
Given that the use of the fotos is strictly for teaching purposes, we would be obliged, if you would grant us the right to publish for free.
Apart from in Germany we also publish our books in Switzerland, Austria and the Netherland, and we therefore ask you to grant us your permission for these countries as well.
On behalf of the editorial staff of Ernst Klett Verlag, Italian books for grown-ups, I send you kind regards
