Bon Odori at Tsukiji

If you’re in Japan in August, you must participate at a Bon Odori. So, tonight I went to the Tsukiji Hongwan-ji Temple.
I arrived there around 6pm, when it was still daylight, and in the temple’s courtyard, in a paper lantern decorated area, there was a taiko concert.
Soon, the spectators, in large number, young and elderly alike, started dancing.
I watched them dancing and the music got me… This Bon Odori music is so powerful, it’s still playing in my head!
Almost the same melody, but different:
I couldn’t resist the temptation to offer you some photos:

Looks like you are interested in matsuris, do visit my blog if you get a chance at http://bartman905.wordpress.com as I have attended a number of different festivals in Tokyo for the past year or so.
When you watch it, you can help but thinking, they can't do anything the cool way, they have to make an art of it. Of everything. Make it perfect and grade those who do it with coloured belts.
Perfectionists.... I guess that's what makes them cool though.
I know coloured belts are a western thing, the Japanese have only two colours: black & white. You either know your stuff or you don't.
Even here they are perfect...
@adrian: True. That's one of the reasons I like Japan.
