Hakone, o staţiune aflată la aproximativ 100 de kilometri de Tokyo, este un loc deosebit pentru petrecerea unui sfârşit de săptămănă.
O plimbare pe aleea cu cedri bătrâni, de-a lungul vechiului Tokaido, care lega Edo de Kyoto, pe sub cedrii plantaţi în 1618, din ordinul celui de-al doilea shogun Tokugawa, este foarte romantică.
Vara, odată ce ai intrat pe alee, soarele arzător de afară dispare, răcoarea şi mirosul de conifer te înconjoară. Din când în când câte o rază de soare jucăuşă, care reuşeşte să-şi găsească loc prin frunziş, îţi mai aduce aminte de căldura de afară. S-au păstrat doar doi kilometri din vechiul drum, dar este suficient de lung pentru a reuşi să te transpună într-o altă lume.
