It's heartening to see these in this day and age even in light of the disarray; I fear this would have been vandalised/destroyed within days of being erected over here :(

I find this so beautiful...in the midst of modern dwellings, there is still the small shrine which is really special, reminding us of worship to some deity.

Are such shrines still being built / receiving attention?

They remind me of the many Romanian counterparts built alongside country roads. I got to count a dozen - quite a few new - north of Curtea de Arges yesterday, and the sample seems fairly representative for just about everywhere else in the country. Interesting...
